Tin Hau Temple in Taipa
The couplets on the front door of the Tin Hau Temple of Taipa exclaims:
"Tin Hau (Empress) bestows bounties as large as a sea,
while dragon surrounds the central seat leaving auspicious air."
The Tin Hau Temple is the oldest temple of Taipa, built in the Qianlong Reign. Now
there is an old bell left in the temple, where it is written:
The Tin Hau Temple of Longxing Bay was built in the 50th year of Qianlong Reign.
Made in the antique furnace of Wan De.
From it we can see that the Tin Hau Temple has existed since 1785.
The Tin Hau Temple was built on a pretty large scale with three principal columns in a row, and it also has a garden in the back called Garden of Temple. Now the side palaces have been rented either for residence or restaurants.
The existent main palace is dedicated to the Empress, with a lot of cultural relics inside. Besides the ancient bell, there are also are decorated gateways, standing tablets, stone or tin incense burners, ancient inscribed boards and incense burner tables.
The cultural relics belong to the periods of Qianlong Reign, Dao Guang Reign, Xian Feng Reign, Tong Zhi Reign, Guang Xu Reign and other periods during the Republic of China.
