The Mission of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church
The Intention of the Bishop of Macau is to extend the church's pastoral action and evangelizing activity to the area of Iau Hon where most inhabitants are workers and immigrants from China.
The church, in fact, is dedicated to St. Joseph the Worker because St. Joseph is the patron of the Chinese mission. The church fits this area of Macau where many are the workers have settled over the years. The people are like St. Joseph and his family who were considerably poor and immigrants too.
A statue of the holy family has been placed in the church as a reminder that we cannot see Joseph detached from his family and that the pastoral character of the new mission territory should be directed to the family.
