Sam Po Temple of Taipa
Her bless is showed to the Kingdom of Sea,
and her benevolence covers the River Land.
- the couplet on the front of the Sam Po Temple.
From the couplet we know that the god is God of Water. It is said that Sam Po is the third elder sister of Empress of Lin Ranniang.

It is also said that the Sam Po Temple was built in the twentieth fifth year of Daoguang Reign (1845) and rebuilt during Xianfeng Reign. Now in the temple there is still is a stone tablet inscribed in Taoist characters of Xianfeng Reign.
The temple has a similar origin of the Small Temple of Kun lam of Taipa, with its idols placed in a narrow cave.
Sam Po was first known for helping people to defeat the pirates and was very much respected by the fishermen.
