Themed around the concept of a "Mystical Oasis", the Galaxy mega resort will offer 2,164 5-Star luxury hotel rooms including Galaxy's own 1500 rooms, Okura Hotels and Resorts' 410 rooms and Banyan Tree Macau's 254 suites. The mega resort will have a strong Asian identity, with tropical features and design complemented by luxurious villas and cabanas, suites and rooms. The entire Galaxy mega resort will boast a world of gastronomic delights, cocktail lounges and vibrant bars, street style entertainment, relaxation living in the playful podium gardens, white sand beach and wave pool, awe inspiring architecture, one of the largest casinos in the world, and contemporary retail boulevards with the very latest fashion accessories.

Galaxy annouced that "Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) is confident about the future of Macau's gaming industry. Our Group has decided to postpone the opening of the Galaxy Macau resort in Cotai from mid-2009 to 2010 due to the financial tsunami.
Nonetheless, the construction of the resort continues to move forward. The Group will announce a new opening date for Galaxy Macau once market conditions recover, and we are confident that Galaxy Macau will become the choice of Macau travelers, assisting Macau in its efforts to become a leading tourism destination."
Three hotels will operate in the initial stage, housed in two glorious towers with vistas overlooking a lush tropical environment. Galaxy will operate "Tower A" with 1,500 rooms, and two premium, internationally branded hotels will operate in "Tower B" with an additional 1,000 rooms, all connected directly to the casino.
Galaxy Mega Resort will be one of the largest casino in the world and will have a capacity up to 700 gaming tables and 3,000 slot machines. The mass gaming hall stretches the entire length of the casino at almost 300 meters (1,000 feet) long with 15 meter (50 feet) high ceilings and is lined with boundless retail delights, and restaurants.

Galaxy Entertainment Group Limited entered into an agreement with Hotel Okura who will open a 5-star hotel in the Galaxy Mega Resort. Hotel Okura will manage, operate and market one of the three luxury hotels in the first phase development of its Galaxy Mega Resort, Cotai. The name Hotel Okura is synonymous with luxurious accommodation, attentive service, and some of the finest cuisine in all of Japan.
Hotel Okura operates hotels outside Japan including Amsterdam, Guam and China. It has recently expanded its joint marketing agreements to extend its service network with Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and Taj Hotels and Palaces. In its overseas hotel operations, Hotel Okura has long focused its efforts on high growth Asian markets and its opening of a hotel in Macau will further accelerate the Hotel Okura’s Asia strategy, a statement from the company said.

The Hotel Okura branded and managed hotel will have in excess of 400 rooms and suites. Hotel Okura will have complete management responsibility and operational control of the property.
Hotel Okura will have its own exclusive Porte Cochere, lobby, fine dining restaurant, bar and executive lounge. Okura premium customers will have preferential access to the Galaxy casino and leisure facilities including one of the largest wave pools in the world, high-class restaurants, retail precincts and a range of exciting entertainment options.

Galaxy Mega Resort - More Marketing
Surprising features throughout the gaming hall quickly establish a feeling of movement between each area, such as large, glass ceilings, marble columns, spectacular chandeliers and fresh palms.
The VIP Galaxy Club on the Mezzanine Level overlooks the grandeur of the gaming hall and has a total gaming area of 21,000 square meters (70,000 square feet). The hotels will have large scale 100 table banquet and function rooms, a dedicated Bar City with the most diverse selections of cocktails, international beer, elegant wines and champagne accompanied by a refined range of cigars. Fine dining choices will be laid out in style and abundance such as Shanghainese, Cantonese, French, indoor and al fresco Japanese cuisine will complete a totally superior gastronomic affair.

It is above the gaming hall however, on the roof, where the most stunning leisure playground will reside. The world's largest wave pool laps against its own sandy beach in lush, exotic landscaped surroundings. Swim up to the wet bar and chill or lay out in one of the many Jacuzzi's. Private, enticing cabanas shelter from the sun and in the evening specially designed lighting will alternate the ambience creating a variety of moods and night time scenes.
