3 Bridges from Macau Peninsula
There are three bridges connecting Macau to Taipa and Cotai (Cotai Strip area). The Macau-Taipa Bridge, the Friendship Bridge, and the Sai Van Bridge.
The Friendship Bridge, the longest bridge at 4.4 KM in length, leads directly to Macau International Airport and to the Cotai Strip beyond.
The Sai Van Bridge is a 2.2 KM cable stayed bridge in Macau running from the western tip of the Cotai Strip to Western Macau. This is the only bridge that opens the lower deck when a typhoon number 8 hits the city while all the other bridges are closed to traffic.
The 2.5 KM Macau-Taipa Bridge runs from Central Macau to Central Taipa leading into the Cotai Strip. Close to the Wynn Macau, MGM Grand Macau and the Grand Lisboa, this is the shortest route but is only accessed by buses and taxis.
